FREE K-8 Standards-Based Education Programs
Yes, that’s right. The 49ers Museum presented by Sony provides learning platforms for students in grades K-8 through its education program that teaches content-rich lessons using the STEM principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The program also uses football as a platform to connect, inspire, and engage each student. The 49ers Museum presented by Sony provides an engaging opportunity to experience the story of 49ers football through content-filled education programs that help students gain a greater understanding of the integral STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) concepts that uniquely surround the game of football. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics: four areas that are central to our world’s advancement. A key goal of the 49ers Museum is to increase STEM literacy to make for more productive and informed students. Our learning platform consistently connects, inspires, and engages students through relevant STEM content, interactive explorations, group/peer collaboration, application of skills learned, and student reflection. Students will learn firsthand the value of how individual effort towards a collective goal leads to a teams’ overall success. The 49ers Museum brings students together to collaboratively learn by “doing” rather than just “seeing.” By offering hands-on, project-based learning in a dynamic and technological environment, our education program challenges students to reach new heights. Our field trip offerings are no cost to K-8 schools interested in attending. Due to high demand, we have limited slots available for the 2015/16 school year. Applications are now being accepted online. WHAT IS STEM?
