2017 CFB Week 2 Recap

The second week of the college football season provided some high intensity games while teams continue to prepare for conference play. Take a look back at how the teams from the Pac-12 and Big Ten fared in Week 2.

Penn State QB Trace McSorely completed 15 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Nittany Lions to a 33-14 victory over their in-state rival.

Maryland RB Ty Johnson ran wild on Saturday, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the Terrapins dominant win.

QB Nathan Stanley’s game-winning five-yard touchdown pass to WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette helped the Hawkeyes edge their rivals in the battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.

The Colorado defense was dominant again, not allowing a touchdown for the second consecutive game as the Buffaloes rolled to a 34-point victory.

The Hoosiers notched their first win of the season behind QB Payton Ramsey’s three touchdown performance.

Spartan QB Brian Lewerke accounted for three out of four touchdowns as the Spartans took care of the visiting Broncos.

The Scarlet Knights couldn’t overcome the Eagles field goal early in the fourth quarter falling 16-13.

Cal RB Patrick Laird rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns while the Golden Bears pulled away from the Wildcats late.

Freshman running back Jonathan Taylor rushed for 223 yards and three scores in the Badgers 17-point victory.

WR Dante Pettis returned a punt back for a touchdown for his new Pac-12 record seventh return score in the Huskies rout of the Grizzlies.

The Michigan defense was dominant again holding the Bearcats offense to 14 points.

Just another Saturday at the office for UCLA QB Josh Rosen who threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns in the Bruins 56-23 victory.

Freshman RB J.K. Dobbins scored the first touchdown of his Ohio State career in the loss to the Sooners.

Heisman favorite Sam Darnold threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Trojans over the Cardinal in this early season conference battle.

The Fighting Illini forced two turnovers, including a pick-six, in the victory over the Hilltoppers.

The Golden Gophers traveled to Corvallis, Ore. for a Pac-12/Big Ten matchup and held the Beavers to 35 total yards in the second half during Minnesota’s big victory.

Utah QB Tyler Huntley accounted for over 300 total yards and one touchdown as the Utes defeated their in-state rival for a seventh consecutive time.

Jamal Morrow’s 22-yard touchdown reception helped the Cougars complete the comeback and defeat the Broncos in triple overtime.
